These were some of the key messages shared by Viji Venkatesh with the Max Brand Ambassadors during an engaging online session on using technology and social media conducted by Rachel McKelvey , Communications Officer, The Max Foundation.
The overall aim was to provide participants with practical tools for using social media as a tool for advocacy.
Rachel interviewed Viji about her impactful work as a patient advocate, board member, and social media ambassador for the Max Foundation, highlighting her authentic approach to storytelling, fundraising through Chai for Cancer, and the importance of honesty and community in online engagement. Viji shared insights on balancing personal and organizational social media, the power of cinema in advocacy, and encouraged ambassadors to embrace authenticity and not be afraid when sharing their stories .
The session conducted on 28 April 2026, was organised by The Max Foundation and attended by nine Max brand ambassadors from US, Kenya, and South Africa including three located in the US who are originally from India, Nepal and France.
