FOM had the distinct honour of participating in the 1st Pharma Leadership Innovation Conclave 2025 by Express Pharma, organized by the Indian Express Healthcare division. This brand-new platform to empower India Pharma Inc, across organisations and functions, with the vision and tools needed to drive meaningful change into its next phase of leadership.
Representing the patient’s perspective, Pramod John George, Jt. Secy & Trustee of FOM, shared insights into a patient’s journey and their expectations for the future. With a heartfelt and compelling message he urged pharma companies to step forward and take action:
1. Support access to life saving drugs, even a cost of Rs. 6000-7000 per month remains unaffordable for many patients
2. Design access programs for second and third gen TKIs, ensuring that advancements in treatments reach those who need it most
3. Learn from the success of the GIPAP, a pioneering program launched in 2004, in which Novartis has provided access to Glivec, a lifesaving to hundreds and thousands of CML patients in India.
The forum also featured Association leaders who act as a vital bridge between pharma industry and policymakers. Mr Anil Matai, Director General, Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI), who was the CEO of Novartis India during the inception of GIPAP shared how despite significant challenges, they remained steadfast in their commitment to continue the access program.
The conclave underscored the importance of holistic programs – one that go beyond treatment to support overall wellness and health. We feel encouraged and look forward to exciting collaborations ahead, working jointly towards a healthier ‘Patient First’ future!
