In the spirit of #UnitedbyUnique, we organised a Support Group Meeting for CML and GIST patients and their caregivers on 1st February 2025, in Pune in association with Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital.
This was Pune’s first in-person meeting since the COVID outbreak—long overdue and eagerly awaited.
With over 70 CML patients and caregivers coming together, to share their own stories and experiences, ready to learn, with mutual support and understanding of one another in their own unique cancer journeys.
The day was power-packed with insightful presentations:
MAS Guidelines: Simplifying access to essential medicines
Understanding FOM: a crucial support system for patients
Inspiring patient testimonials : “United by Unique”
A special thank you to the Dr. Sameer Melinkeri, HOD Hematologist and Bone Marrow Transplant, & Dr. Anusree Prabhakaran, Clinical Hematologist, from Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune, for their expert insights!
Dr Anusree’s talk on “Living Well with CML” helped the patients understand the disease better.
The popular Q&A session with the physicians helped patients tackle their everyday challenges, explore new treatments, clinical trials and understand what the future holds in CML care.
The meeting ended with an Art Therapy session, where participants enthusiastically expressed themselves through the medium of colours!
