Mumbai Marathon 2024

Viji Venkatesh, FOM Managing Trustee and Region Head, India & South Asia, The Max Foundation, participated in the Dream Run during the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2024 on Sunday, January 21. She was joined by Anusha Singh, a supporter of Friends of Max. Anusha is a Corporate Communications Consultant based in Mumbai and an alumnus of Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi, like Viji.

The duo was cheered on by The Max Foundation, Mumbai Team and Friends of Max. It was an exhilarating experience watching them put the FOM footprint out there at the TMM 2024, participating amidst thousands of like-minded individuals, each with their own unique reason for participating but bound with the overall intention of doing social good; defining the spirit of #HarDilMumbai.

It was an excellent platform to raise awareness and funds for Project Shiksha, an initiative of friends of Max, to provide financial aid to cover the education costs of paediatric cancer patients and children of patients who are on lifelong medication; an initiative with a dual objective- to ensure that they are able to continue education while remaining compliant to their cancer treatment therapy.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all generous supporters who happily came forward to Viji’s fundraising appeal and contributed to her TMM page, raising over Rs. 3,00,000! A special mention to the Mumbai ELSA (Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi – Mumbai Chapter) family for their continued support.

Our participation in the Tata Mumbai Marathon is just another glimpse of how collective action helps FOM bring dignity and hope to the lives of thousands of patients who are coping with two rare cancers, CML and GIST.

Last but not the least a big round of applause to United Way Mumbai and its wonderful team of Debopama, Marian and Sahej who made it all so easy!
