Patients diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) must take medications throughout their lives which leads them to feel further burdened financially and emotionally. The patients must also undergo BCR-ABL and other diagnostic tests annually to help physicians monitor their condition, detect recurrence or resistance to therapy.

The prices for each test which can range anywhere from ₹4000 to ₹7000+, are unaffordable to a lot of our financially distressed patients. The cost is even higher for people living in remote parts of the country who must incur additional expenses such as travelling and lodging.

Such factors, as we have witnessed, often lead to non-compliance at the patient’s end, which may ultimately result in health complications or relapse.

This project provides relief to patients by underwriting the cost of these tests so that they may undergo their treatment and tests as per their physicians’ advice and lead a healthy and close-to-normal life.

Friends of Max has entered into a strategic partnership with CORE Diagnostics, a leading diagnostics company, to help patients access this extremely important monitoring test at NO cost from their home.

Since the start of the project in June 2021, till date over 3000 CML patients have taken their testing through FOM’s program. These are patients PAN India, from weaker sections of the society, who are undergoing treatment in leading hospitals under the care of leading oncologists and physicians of the country, and are being recommended by their physicians to undergo testing through FOM’s ‘At no cost’ facility.
