World Cancer Day
Year after year, observing World Cancer Day only strengthens our resolve to raise awareness and encourage policy makers and governments to pay more attention and take appropriate action in cancer control. Millions of deaths caused by cancer are preventable! World Cancer Day is marked on February 4th , this is when the world comes together to raise awareness about cancer, encourage its prevention, and mobilise action to address the global cancer epidemic.
World CML Day
Every year on 22nd September, World CML Day is celebrated globally to raise awareness about Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML), a rare type of blood cancer. As the world’s largest support group for CML patients, Friends of Max plays a pivotal role in representing and amplifying the voices of thousands of patients in the region. Through a range of impactful activities, we strive to educate, empower and unite the CML community while highlighting the importance of early diagnosis, treatment adherence, and support systems. Our efforts are strengthened by the dedication of Friends of Max City Chapter Leaders from across the country, who work tirelessly to make this day meaningful and impactful.
CML Awareness day
International Childhood Cancer Day
International Childhood Cancer Day is a global collaborative campaign to raise awareness about childhood cancer. As we all know the impact of childhood cancer translates into years of life lost and is fraught with all kinds of inequalities and financial trauma. Every normal aspect of childhood is denied to a little patient and this includes schooling too. In its own way Friends of Max, through funds raised by Chai for Cancer, offers relief to school going children. Through its Project Shiksha, pediatric patients receive financial assistance to see them through their education.
CML Horizons Conference
Organised by CML Advocates Network, The CML Horizons Conference is an annual international conference for CML patient advocacy leaders. Educating patient advocates is a key objective of these conferences. As a regular participant, FOM takes this opportunity to engage with advocacy groups from APAC, EMEA, LATAM USA, Canada and Europe. The conference serves as a platform for learning, exchanging insights, adopting innovative tools and expand FOM’s reach. Most importantly, it enables FOM to amplify the voice of patients and caregivers, ensuring their needs and perspectives are represented on a global stage.
MPN Horizons Conference
Organised by CML Advocates Network, The MPN Horizons Conference is an annual international conference for MPN patient advocacy leaders. Tata Mumbai Marathon
The Tata Mumbai Marathon held in January every year, is one of the largest and most prestigious running events in Asia, bringing together participants from across the globe to champion various causes. For us, this marathon is more than just a race – it’s an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for our Project Shiksha beneficiaries, helping pediatric cancer patients and children of cancer patients continue their education. Our enthusiastic FOM volunteers, supporters, and team members come together to run, walk, and cheer for this cause. Their efforts highlight the resilience and hope of young cancer warriors while garnering much-needed support to cover their education costs, including school fees, textbooks, stationery, and uniforms.
Daan Utsav
Friends of Max joins in to celebrated #DaanUtsav is India’s biggest festival of giving as we encourage our well-wishers and supporters to donate their “Act of Giving” to patients living with CML and GIST, who are on lifelong treatment.

Viji’s Diary
Nobody asked me to tell my story, but I desperately want to say a few things. All of you who know me know how difficult it is to shut me up when I begin talking and yes, writing also, so maybe that is why nobody asked me…But indeed it was me who asked everyone to write their “story”. Isn’t it strange, calling real life, excruciatingly real and alive, a story? I am surprised not one of you turned around and said, “What do you mean, ‘our STORY’? We are having real life experiences here, not some fairy tales or ”ghar ghar ki kahaniya…“ Instead, each one of you just put down your lives on paper and gave them to me just like that. For this alone, a very big Thank You!!! Some of you thought it an honour, some were happy to share. Others wanted to share after learning from others…that it is indeed possible to talk about yourselves and Rajeev wrote only because I threatened never to hug him again Hey Rajeev, caught you there but you know I would have never carried out that threat!!!My favourite writer P.G. Wodehouse once said “There are two ways of writing, (one…
