The FOM Volunteer of the Month (August 2019) is Vicky Vatnani.
Vicky is one of our most enthusiastic volunteers and a pillar of Friend of Max’s many activities in Hyderabad. He has been an inspiring leader providing amazing support and guidance to the City Chapter of Hyderabad and the FOM leadership as well as the Max team . Be it our Support Group Meetings in the region or the Leadership Summit Meetings, Vicky with his tireless energy has been at the forefront . The Chai for Cancer Addas FOM Hyderabad has hosted in the iconic KBR Park owe their phenomenal success to Vicky’s energetic advocacy .
Vicky is an alumni of the Merit Institute of Technology, Ooty, Tamil Nadu. His family includes his parents, his wife and his 7-year-old son. He runs a business with committed professionalism and yet finds time to volunteer with Friends of Max be it organising events or helping out with supporting newly diagnosed patients.
Vicky has always wanted to be part of an NGO and he was inspired to join Friends of Max as he heard about its work and the fact that FOM reaches out to thousands of people in need .
Vicky is focussed and singularly passionate about making sure every aspect of the Patient Meetings is flawlessly managed .
He says that every event or a meeting of FOM is an experience in itself and gives him a definition of what life is, as he is able to become a bridge between new patients and people who have a lot of information about CML- GIST due to the time they give to FOM. In all these events, he has met people who thank hard-working volunteers like him a hundred times for guiding them.
Vicky tells all the readers that, volunteers like him in FOM are always available to people at any point and they shouldn’t hesitate to reach out to them for any help they require in the myriad situations that a cancer survivor encounters in his/her journey. He is passionate about wildlife and an avid photographer and this is what he wants to pursue full time once he retires.
